Black Night

Hey everyone! I can’t believe its been so long since my last post! I have been so busy with Esthetician school and work, but I just had to make a post on a new holiday manicure idea!
Now plain black may not be for everyone, but I have a feeling this particular mani I decided to do today will change your minds! So as you can see from the first picture, I used three different nail polishes. I will go through the steps with you so you can creat this festive look yourself!
Ok, so first I started out with fresh, unpainted nails. File them how you like, but I happen to adore short nails! I cannot stand long nails they get in the way. Anyways, I start out with 2 coats of OPI’s Black Onyx. Now I do a base coat always of a color because when using glitter, it is a pain in the ass butt to come off if you don’t! You can use any dark color in this stage but since the glitter I am using is suspended in a black base I think it works.

So once you have a base coat/s that you like (and that is dry), you move on to the glitter. I am using one of BUTTER London’s holiday colors in The Black Knight. When I first peeked at the collection online, this was the first one that caught my eye! How cool is a glitter polish in a black base? Now I can’t justify $14 per nail polish, but Butter has some amazing one-of-a-kind, oh so gorgeous glittery shades. So I got this one in a 2 pack today with a 20% off coupon! Anyway, so here is after coat one of Black Knight.

You can definitely tell there is some glitter there, but I like at least 2 coats for a beautiful shimmery goodness lol. So this next picture is after 2 coats of Black Knight and my favorite top coat ever Seche Vite. I put a thick layer of it on top, it dries fast and doesn’t chip for at least a week!

And there you have it! Now this may not be for everyone but I recommend giving it a chance because it is so chic, and a perfect twist to a classic dark nail. I would even do this glitter over a deep burgundy or purple if you don’t want to do black.
Enjoy!!
